Hello everyone, hope you are all well?
I thought I would show you my Christmas stitching and works in progress, of which I have far too many! I used to only stitch one piece at a time until I saw Floss Tube and then I started way too many projects, but over the last few weeks I have just been concentrating on this Mirabilia Father Christmas.
Stitch along for the summer pillow
Before I show you the photos I thought I would update you on the stitch along for the Summer Pillow.
I do apologise, I was going to post a tutorial today but forgot I was going to Paris this weekend, so it will be a few days late and I will post a tutorial on Wednesday.
Craft room news
The craft room is making progress, the walls are painted the skirting boards are on and the new floor is laid. The electrician is planning to fit me some spot lights and lots of new plugs for my sewing machine, overlocker and my little oven to make my polymer clay items, I have so missed using that little oven making mini polymer clay pieces.
This weekend I will be buying some furniture from IKEA near Paris and finally getting around to putting my craft items in new drawers. I also purchased an old brown tall set of drawers from a car boot sale in France, they will eventually be painted white, a perfect piece of furniture to store my DMC threads.
Christmas Stitching
I have been making some progress on my Twelve Days Of Christmas stitching by Sue Hillis Designs but I will not get around to finishing those until my craft room is finished, I need the space to lay out the pieces and then bead the edges of each little pillow.
The Brookes Books Christmas freebies have also had some attention, they seem to stitch up quickly, in the photos below you can see I am at various stages on each piece, I did run out of some thread for a couple of the designs.
Paris this weekend and the beginning of my running story
This weekend I will be in Paris watching my husband run the Marathon, it will be the fifth time he has run it, I remember in 2015 standing on the finish line watching all the fit people cross the line and being in awe of their tenacity and bravery, I am so proud of my husband as I watched him train and put the hard work in to succeed.
I had a stereo type in my head that only young people were able to run 5k, 10k, half marathons and marathons, not someone like me in my 50's but watching the runners that day I saw older people running too, one man was 80 years old and I was so impressed. A seed was planted in 2015 when I saw fit women of my age and older crossing that finish line, the tiny seed was planted and it took me until March 2018 to get brave enough to even think I could run half a mile, never mind a 5k! Lol......
That is another story which I will talk about in a separate post, safe to say it changed my life and took me to a place I never thought I could get to.
Birthday news - American Idiot
It was my birthday last week, we went to Manchester to see a show called American Idiot, based on the rock group Greenday, it was fantastic, we loved it so much and wanted to go again!
Our son used to play all the songs from Greenday in his bedroom when he was 14, I remember the first time he played the music, I shouted "James, whats that noise"? He said "Greenday" to which I replied "Turn it up louder, its fantastic"! I suspect my son thought I was going to ask him to turn it down! Lol.....
I will post about that in one of my next posts and introduce you to some of their fabulous music if you have never heard of them, although I suspect my American friends will already know about Greenday. However, you can check out my favourite Greenday song here, it makes me cry everytime!
Mirabili Father Christmas
I love stitching this Father Christmas, it is quite easy because there are a lot of stitches close together that are the same colour.
Brookes Books Advent Calendar - Free Patterns
Sue Hillis Designs - Twelve Days Of Christmas
The Laduree cake shop is one of my favourite places to visit in Paris, however this week I treated myself to some mini Laduree cakes from this cute Etsy shop here

Until next time, happy stitching!
